How have you been lately? I have heard them say, good food is equal to good mood and just to uplift your mood, here we are with good food. Today we will be cooking onion and ladyfinger veggie, but with a twist, which we will reveal soon.
The ladyfinger and onion veggie might remind you of your childhood tiffin box or a simple heart-warming dinner with your family. And trust me, this recipe will give you a nostalgia trip for sure. Let’s begin the great cooking expedition with Yuvaap.


  • Onions- 1 medium bowl, chopped 
  • Salt- As per taste 
  • Green chilies- As per liking 
  • Fenugreek seeds- 1 tablespoon, sprouted
  • Ladyfinger- 1 large bowl chopped 
  • Cayenne powder- As per taste 
  • Turmeric- ½ teaspoon 
  • Lemon juice- 1 teaspoon 

Preparation time– 10-15 minutes 

Cooking Time – 15 minutes

Cuisine– Vegan, oil free, veggie. 


Some quick and easy instructions have the power of turning raw ingredients into a delicious, mouth-watering cuisine. The twist we were talking about is, this recipe is going to be completely oil-free and trust me, lack of oil doesn’t mean you have to compromise with taste. The recipe will turn out to be super delicious. So here we go

  1. Chop down the ladyfinger and onions to fine pieces 
  2. Heat a pan 
  3. Add the chopped onions
  4. Sprinkle with some water
  5. Onions will start releasing water
  6. Sauté them well in the water released
  7. Add some green chilies for the spicy flavor 
  8. Add the sprouted fenugreek seeds 
  9. Add the chopped lady finger 
  10. Sprinkle some cayenne pepper and turmeric powder
  11. Sprinkle a few drops of water to keep it from burning
  12. Stir occasionally
  13. Once cooked, squeeze some lemon juice for a tangy flavor.

  • Ladyfinger– Ladyfinger is a powerhouse of nutrients. It has great amounts of fiber, folate, vitamin C, E and K. It is also rich in minerals. Ladyfinger helps in promoting heart health, regulating blood sugar. It prevents anemia, helps in weight loss and boosts immunity as well. Ladyfinger has been found to be beneficial in fighting colon cancer. Due to the high amount of folate found in it, it is also beneficial in pregnancy.  
  • Fenugreek Sprouts- Fenugreek sprouts help in managing diabetes and weight loss. They also promote heart, gut, and reproductive health. Fenugreek can boost immunity to a great extent and improve cardiac health. Apart from that, fenugreek aids in metabolism hence making weight loss journey easy. 
  • Cayenne powder – It is excellent for heart health, improves vision and immune system. Cayenne is very rich in provitamin A, probiotics and vitamin C. It can protect against cellular damage and boost antioxidant defenses in the body. It also has life prolonging qualities.

  • 1 teaspoon- 5 ml
  • 1 tablespoon -15 ml
  • Small bowl- 50 ml
  • Medium bowl- 100 ml
  • Large bowl -200 ml

Chef Tip

  • Turn off the flame and then add lemon juice to the veggies after cooking them. Adding lemon or dry mango powder will remove its stickiness.
